I feel like this might be a controversial take but I feel like everyone should have a website. Not the most controversial take on its own, but specifically, I feel like everyone should have a website REGARDLESS OF WHERE IT'S HOSTED OR IF THEY USED SITE BUILDERS. I see so many people putting the emphasis on coding it yourself, and while I agree in part, it's a pretty big barrier for people who are still new to the idea; I do NOT want that barrier stopping them from having their own spot on the internet!!

I used to feel conditioned by streak apps, habit trackers, self help things and productivity/hustle culture to think I need to do all of my hobbies daily, or at least weekly. This idea that you need practice for everything, the need to become good, the pressure to make progress and have something to show for it, the question if you should monetize it or if you can still call this a hobby if you haven't touched it in months… nasty! We need to get it out of our heads and stop overthinking something we should enjoy and let loose in.

The news that Discord plans to introduce ads has prompted discussion on my social feeds about how the app is following the same trajectory as Skype. Another once-beloved instant messenger has become bloated and increasingly user-unfriendly. The "enshittification" of Discord is underway, and as the state of the app gets worse, I can't help but wonder what will happen to the information stored within if/when users leave for the next best thing.
